Korean tutor for second generation Koreans

You grew up hearing Korean. But when it's your turn to speak, you freeze.

You actually know far more than you think. The gap feels huge. It isn't.

Almost every Korean program on earth is built for total beginners. They waste your time with grammar drills and textbook Korean that has nothing to do with real family conversations, social pressure, or speaking under the spotlight.

Second generation Koreans need something different.
That's why nothing has stuck. Not your effort.

Why nothing has worked before

Your problem isn't lack of exposure.

It's that the teaching system was never designed for someone who already understands the language in their bones but can't produce it on command.

The approach

How this is different

We skip the beginner textbook route. We'll train the exact skill you actually need: turning passive listening into fluent, natural speech in real-life situations. Family dinners, Korea trips, awkward reunions, whatever actually matters to you.

Grammar only enters the picture when it serves the conversation, never as the main event.

I recommend two lessons per week to every single student. One lesson a week lets you mentally park Korean until the next session. Two lessons keep it alive in your brain and force the habit of actually speaking it.

About

Who I am

Fully bilingual in English and Korean. 11 years teaching Korean. Second generation Koreans and heritage speakers are the students I specialize in and enjoy most.

Second generation Koreans run into the same three walls that generic courses don't really address:

🗣
Passive comprehension that refuses to turn into speech
👨‍👩‍👧
The painful gap that appears around family or in Korea
😔
Years of failed attempts that leave you feeling left behind

These walls are not permanent. They are solvable. I have been breaking them with second generation Koreans for over a decade.

For intermediate students the mission stays the same: more speaking and grammar lectures only when necessary. Maximum real speaking time and deep work on the cultural and social rules that separate textbook Korean from sounding like a real person.
